The Music Office Annual Gala is a sublime music gathering featuring over 400 young musicians from its orchestras, band and choir to perform splendid Chinese and Western repertoires. A colourful showcase with a mixed Chinese and Western concert programme includes the quintessential choral and strings’ rendition of Hallelujah Chorus from Messiah; Mascagni’s refined strings work Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana; stunning band music Fantasy on Osaka Folk Tunes and splendour symphonic poem for the Chinese orchestra to portray the Chinese legendary heroine, Commander Mu Guiying. The flagship symphony orchestra and Chinese orchestra will perform respectively the world premiere works of the noted composers Richard Tsang’s Distant Lights and Wong Hok-yeung’s Distant Mountains to recognize Music Office’s achievement in general music education over the past four decades.
