【 About the Competition 】

In view of the relative shortage of international singing competitions in Asia, Musica Viva inaugurated the Hong Kong International Operatic Singing Competition (HKIOSC) in 2018. Musica Viva aims to recognise and help developing young singers from all around the world ageing from 18 to 35 years old. Application to the HKIOSC 2022 is NOW OPENED until the 31st December 2021.

International Jury
A panel of International Jury will review all applications and select 24 Semi-finalists. Next year, the distinguished and renowned artists and arts practitioners joining us are Dame Kiri Te Kanawa (Choir of Jury), Sumi Jo, Dennis O’Neill, Peter Katona and Lo Kingman.

Accommodation
During the competition period, competitors will be provided with accommodation at a 4-star hotel. All competitors are required to be present in Hong Kong during the competition.

The Competition
Taking place in Hong Kong City Hall, the 24 semi-finalists will first perform a programme of arias of their own choice with official piano accompaniment provided by Musica Viva for Semi-final Rounds over two days. 8 Finalists selected by the International Jury will then perform another programme with the Gramophone Orchestra of the Year 2019 nominee, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, in the Final Round on the last evening and compete for 4 prizes, totalling beyond USD 25,000.

Since our International Jury is well-connected and committed to fostering the growth of young singers, this is a great opportunity for them to grace the stage and display their talents to these prestigious opera personalities. The competition will also be recorded and broadcasted on radio, TV (TBC) and online, maximising competitors’ exposure in the media.

Apply now, and we will see you in Hong Kong.
