To the outside world, Tai Kwun has long represented Hong Kong's colonial history. However, to those whose lives intersected with the day-to-day facets of Tai Kwun, it represents a repository of nostalgia that rekindles their affection for their community. Those who lived or worked nearby have fond memories associated with this heritage site — whether it is playing under the much-cherished mango tree in its courtyard, or the aromas of family meals wafting through the compound from nearby kitchens, Tai Kwun invariably conjures up recollections of warmth that will forever sustain Hong Kongers' love for this landmark.
In these Jockey Club Musicus Heritage Alive Online Concerts, internationally renowned cellist Trey Lee and outstanding local musicians will present recorded performances at Tai Kwun. Musicians will also explore Tai Kwun and share their stories with the audience.
From December onwards, a series of four episodes of “Explore Tai Kwun with Classical Music” will be released on the Musicus Society and Tai Kwun websites consecutively.
