Overview

Sound changes constantly as time shifts. When new sound emerges, some might gradually fade away. Every era has its own unique sound. Everyone has their own interpretation towards sound. Yet what kind of sound would ‘the present’ be like?

The design inspiration of “Future Record Project” is from a gold-plated copper disk phonograph record titled Voyager Golden Records. In order to portray the Earth and humanity’s civilization to the outer space, scientists put this record in an unmanned space probe and launched it into space in 1977. The record had included different sound and images such as 55 languages, renowned orchestral pieces, and photographs of organic beings and more. It has been 45 years since the record was produced, and it is still an intriguing pleasure to revisit the record now.

How would you create a record if sound will be brought up to space in 2022? “Future Record Project” Arts Tech Exhibition focuses on engaging audience with the combination of technology and sound art. Audience can ‘listen’ and ‘play’ with the sound installations created by artists and students to observe and discover sound in the ‘voyage of sound’.
