M+ at Night: Seen and UnseenM+

2023-12-01 ( 6:00 PM ~ 10:00 PM )
Overview

Looking for a fun Friday evening? On 1 December, 'M+ at Night: Seen and Unseen' will offer an exciting series of creative activities. Whether you're a solo visitor or joining with a group of friends, you can wander through the museum at your own pace.

Everyday objects in our lives that may seem ordinary often carry stories, memories, and emotions meaningful to each of us. Their designs also reflect how society and lifestyles have evolved over time, giving each object distinctive significance. On this 'M+ at Night', your journey begins with choosing an object that resonates with your experience. Through creative workshops, a special tour, a screening, and an in-gallery activity with creators across the disciplines, you will rediscover the uniqueness and versatility of objects from different perspectives. Infuse your chosen object with new meaning and share your stories with others in the public space of the museum.

Activities on the Ground Floor are free, while those on Level 2 are open to visitors with exhibition tickets. Find out more details about each activity below!

"Workshop: Your Stories, Treasured Facts"
There is a saying that the more difficult one finds it to forget a memory, the more likely one is to place, project, and transfer one's emotions onto objects related to that memory. Objects are like perfect listeners, allowing you to tell stories that are unknown to others and existing as solemn and sacred presences.

Time: 18:00 – 19:00, 19:45 – 20:45
Location: Main Lobby, Ground Floor
-
"Workshop: Objects Ensemble"
Apart from musical instruments, what other objects can produce sound? Small decorations at home, dishes on the dining table, cleaning brushes in the kitchen—if these everyday objects could make a sound, what would it sound like?

Time: 19:00 – 21:00
Location: Main Lobby, Ground Floor
-
"Grand Stair Screening"
This Grand Stair moving image programme delves into the world of everyday objects and their skillful activations through the lens of contemporary artists and filmmakers. The films playfully depict the manifold interactions of humans and objects and illustrate how the most ordinary item can be elevated through artistic intervention and re-contextualisation.

Time: 18:30 – 21:30
Location: Grand Stair, Ground Floor
