Mark Alban Lotz

Started playing the flute at seventeen. 1984-86 Study Ethnology in Berlin but ended up studying both: jazz at the conservatory Hilversum, the Netherlands and classical flute at the Amsterdam 'School of Arts'. Received private tuition in L.A. and NYC in 1997-98. Student of Indian Music at Codarts, Rotterdam 2007-09. Finalist with his ‘Albanism Quartet’ at the Jazz Contest in Karlovy Vary, Slovakia, two time price winner of the Middelzee Festival, nominated for the Dutch Edison and Beyond Magazine audience prize.

As programmer Mark is involved a.o. in the ‘Music: World Series’ and ‘u-ex(perimental)’ biography mark alban lotz concert series. Part of the governing board of Improvising Musicians Holland (BIM). Teaches flute and ensembles at the Utrecht Conservatory. Guest professor at Codarts, Rotterdam, Artez, Arnhem, Yildiz University, Istanbul, Hochschule Bremen. Advisor Composition for the ‚Fonds voor Podium Kunsten’, FPK, The Netherlands.
