Terry Tsang

An emerging choreographer and independent dancer in Hong Kong, he was nominated for Outstanding Performing Male Dancer in the Hong Kong Dance Awards 2019. Tsang received the Tom Brown Emerging Choreographer Award and the Award for Outstanding Online Production for online production "Labora-Terry Landscape" in Hong Kong Dance Awards 2023. Tsang received the Award for Young Artist (Dance) in Hong Kong Arts Development Awards 2024.

Tsang studied in The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts majoring in Contemporary Dance, and was a full-time dancer in the City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC) during 2013 to 2019.

Tsang started to work independently in 2019. His work "Mo Ngaan Tai" was presented under the "New Force in Motion" Series. Later the piece was re-staged at various festivals.

Since 2020, he has been conducting a dance research project inspired by the traditional Cantonese funeral ritual of "Hell-door-breaking" and created "Terry-fying" and "Backtrack-ing" in Tai Kwun and H.D.X respectively. In 2023, he was invited to be a guest choreographer and created "Travel of Soul Time AFTER Time" at CCDC and served as an artist-in-residence at the University of Michigan's Department of Music, Theatre & Dance.

In 2023, Labora Terry Arts was established as an arts organization, dedicated to exploring the future landscape of art.
