The young prince Hamlet is still in mourning after the death of his father, King Hamlet. Gertrude his mother has instantly married his Father's brother, Claudius. The Ghost of Hamlet's Father appears to him and explains that he was murdered by Claudius and that Hamlet should seek revenge. Hamlet swears revenge and feigns madness in order to disguise his true motives from the court spies. Unfortunately for him, to complete his task he must also reject Ophelia, the woman he truly loves. A group of travelling players come to court and Hamlet gets them to re-enact the murder of his Father in order to provoke a guilty reaction from Claudius. Has Hamlet the strength of will to complete his task? Can he believe the ghost? When the whole world's conspiring against you, who do you trust?
