Overview

A Reality Theatre to question gender & authenticity

Herstory Polygon has commenced their exploration on documentary theatre x gender issues since 2012. It is their commitment to delve into definition of “authenticity” in theatre and the intervention of theatre in the society.

Original new play “Regarding O” is divided into two parts. The first part is an immersive audio tour on street, while the second part will be performed in the theatre. For the very first time people with authentic experience will take up the role as performer on stage for Herstory Polygon. Abandoning the common practice of playback theatre or story-sharing, in this play performers with identity and experience of being a transgender will invite audience to contemplate gender, justice and happiness through the nature of theatre: making questions and playing games.

If we believe the concept of gender binary is learned but not born with, is there any manual provided for constructing own gender identity? What if the “authentic reality” is a commonly shared religion, could we redefine what is “authenticity”?

Part of the performance takes place outdoors, please wear comfortable clothings and shoes. You are advised to bring your own headphone to the performance.
