The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of Sheung WanCentre for Community Cultural Development

This tour will provide a historical narrative when walking pass iconic sights in Sheung Wan, such as the Possession Street, Nam Pei Hong, Tung Wah Hospital, Pound Lane and the Poor Man’s Nightclub. The guide will supplement this narrative with stories of his upbringing and anecdotes from the 1950s and 60s Sheung Wan. In additionally, the tour will examine the changes of Sheung Wan through the perspective of urban development, in an attempt to understand the capitalistic expansion of the economy and the rise of the middle class. The juxtaposition of the old and new is indeed a unique feature of Sheung Wan.
