Sunny Ho Tze Fai

Sunny Ho Tze-fai is an accomplished musician with a diverse career in music. As a percussionist, he has garnered recognition for his performances on celebrated platforms such as RTHK32's "The Works" as a selected musician of The Orchestra Academy Young Pro Platform and the Tai Kwun "Afternoon Series 2020" Concert as an associate artist with The Up:Strike Project. Notably, he has collaborated with the Li Biao Percussion Group at the 47th Hong Kong Arts Festival, toured with the 2018 Asian Youth Orchestra, and participated in the Hong Kong International Airport's 20th Anniversary celebration concert. Ho has also worked under the baton of renowned conductors including Paavo Järvi, Gerard Salonga, and Tan Dun, performing as a freelance percussionist with esteemed orchestras such as the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Macao Orchestra, and Opera Hong Kong.

In addition to his passion for percussion, Ho has showcased his talents as a pianist, earning the 2nd Prize with the First Class Award in the 19th Hong Kong Asia Piano Open Competition (Liszt Free Choice Class). He has also served as a rehearsal pianist and assistant conductor in opera productions such as "Giulio Cesare," "The Legend of Confucius," "Cavalleria Rusticana" and "Pagliacci". He conducted the Academy Symphony Orchestra in the premiere performance of Bonnie Zheng Yui Ka’s “Epitome of the City” during The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) Summer Music Festival 2023.

Ho holds a Master of Music Degree in Conducting for Western Orchestra from HKAPA, during which he participated in masterclasses with acclaimed conductors Jaap van Zweden and Lio Kuokman. He also earned a Bachelor of Music Degree in Percussion with first-class honors from the same institution, receiving recognition as the recipient of the Best Academic Achievement Prize from the School of Music. His outstanding achievements have been further acknowledged through numerous scholarships, including the prestigious 2019 HSBC Hong Kong Scholarship.

Currently, Ho is undertaking on a new role as a General Musicianship teacher in the Junior Music Programme at HKAPA, where he aspires to nurture young talents.
