Tango Legends

Tango Legends was founded by Mariela Maldonado and Pablo Sosa who have performed in some of the best tango shows, undertaken extensive world tours in over 40 countries and received rave reviews from international media, like The New York Times and the UK’s Ballet Magazine. They made their professional debut in 1996 under the direction of, and with choreography by, Eduardo Arquimbau. In 2000, they created Alma de Tango, which toured Argentina and South America. They have performed in Tanguera: El Musical Argentino (Brazil, Peru and Chile) and on national and international tours with the Sexteto Mayor Orchestra. From 2004 to 2011, they were assistant directors and choreographers for Carolina Soler’s Estampas Portenas and toured worldwide with Tango Fire and Tango Feeling. Maldonado and Sosa have made numerous television appearances in Argentina, Europe and North America.

Maldonado and Sosa were among the jury members at the 2012 World Tango Championship which is held annually in Buenos Aires. Their distinguished careers have been honored with various awards including “Outstanding Personalities of Culture” by the Government of the Capital Providence Buenos Aires in 2012. Maldonado was honored as “Outstanding Woman” for her contribution to Culture both in Tango Legends representing Argentina abroad and as Director of the Ballet of the City of La Plata in 2015. As Co-founder and Artistic Director of Tango Legends, Maldonado was once again honoured by the Capital Providence Buenos Aires as “Outstanding Woman of Culture” as part of the celebrations for the Women’s Day in 2017.
