Currently 23 years old, Tong Shee Yiu is a Hong Kong-based recorder player. He began his early training with Erikson Ting before continuing his studies with Henry Ho. Since 2022, he has been making regular trips to study with renowned Dutch recorder player Heiko ter Schegget while actively visiting recorder makers worldwide to deepen his understanding of the instrument. With a deep passion for early music, Tong is particularly drawn to the acoustic and uneven tonal qualities of Baroque instruments and is dedicated to applying historical fingering techniques in his performances.
His solo recitals include Querencia, Italian Baroque Euphoria, Miraculum Manor, and All Bach. He has also performed in notable ensemble concerts such as Bach's Contemporaries and Beyond and The Splendour of French Baroque Music with the Concerto da Camera. He actively commissioned original recorder works from composer Erikson Ting, including Concerto Feu d'artifice for Queen's College Recorder Band's 40th anniversary.
Beyond performance, Tong has edited zines including "藝‧命題", "活樂遊", and "遊學人間", aiming to share diverse artistic perspectives with the public. Currently studying medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong with full funding from the Multi-faceted Excellence Scholarship, he was named an Outstanding Student of CUHK in 2025.
