Kerwin Cheung commenced his flute studies at the age of 13 and received tutelage under Olivier Nowak, the Co-Principal Flute of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. Additionally, Kerwin Cheung pursued studies in conducting under the esteemed guidance of Timothy Reynish a professor of conducting at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Kerwin Cheung actively participates in various musical ensembles, including the Hong Kong Symphony, Hong Kong Symphonic Winds, Hong Kong Century Wind Symphony, and Hong Kong Delia Band. Kerwin Cheung has served as a conductor for Hong Kong Metropolitan University Orchestra and Hong Kong Century Wind Symphony. Kerwin Cheung has also performed with several orchestras in different locations, including South Korea, Taiwan, Macau, Shanghai, and Beijing, showcasing a wealth of performance experience. Since the establishment of the Tin Shui Wai Symphonic Winds, Kerwin Cheung has held the position of Music Director and Conductor.
