Gigi Yiu

Gigi Yiu is an artist, educator, choreographer, and performer with extensive experience in the arts. She has received professional training in dance and musical theatre in Hong Kong, France, and New York City. Gigi holds an Advanced Certificate in Tap Dance from the ISTD in the UK. In 2005, she joined the Shiki Theatre Company in Japan and participated in the national tour of the Broadway musical "Crazy for You."

In 2014, Gigi was awarded the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund Scholarship, which allowed her to pursue a master's degree at the Guildford School of Acting in the UK. She has interned at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and BBC's Sky Arts. As an assistant movement director, she has worked alongside Hollywood actress Kim Cattrall and actors trained in Jacques Lecoq's method.

Gigi has played leading roles in various musicals and has been nominated for "Best Actress" at the 24th Hong Kong Drama Awards, as well as at the 6th Hong Kong Theatre Libra. Gigi has been recognised for her achievements and contributions as a movement director, choreographer, and performer in multiple musicals, festivals, and events, such as the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, New Vision Arts Festival, Chung Ying Theatre Company, Hong Kong Arts Festival, and Fredric Mao Theatre Projects etc. She has also worked on commercial advertisements for Alipay HK, Pop Stars Concerts and local movies. Additionally, Gigi has taken on roles as a Program Director for K11 MUSEA and Hong Kong Ocean Park, as well as directing the "Heritage x Fashion: Hollywood Road" modern cheongsam heritage fashion parade. Last year, she served as an executive producer for the gala performance "Interplay."

In 2017, Gigi founded MOVIN'GRID, an art hub dedicated to promoting arts workshops and collaborating with international brands and artists. She recently completed the "Executive Leadership Development Programme 2024" funded by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council ( HKADC ). Gigi currently serves as a Part-time dance lecturer at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Vice Chairperson ( Dance ) of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund Awardees Association.
