Lord of the people - a tribute to Lord Ganesha through danceMudra Dance Academy Hong Kong

Presented by Divya and her team of 15 exemplary performers based in Hong Kong, ‘Lord of the People’ is a dance symphony portraying popular Kritis (Compositions) and Stutis (Praises) praising Lord Ganesha, one of the most widely revered and most popular of all Indian divinities. Lord Ganesha, the god of beginnings, symbolizes happiness and prosperity. He is widely revered as the remover of obstacles. He is also the lord of intellect, wisdom and is the patron of arts and sciences.

The program is classified into three segments.

1. The first segment has short Stutis and Shlokas in praise of Lord Ganesha.
2. The second segment is a series of Keerthanams (longer classical compositions) that depict Lord Ganesha’s characteristics
3. The third concluding segment which has dance performances bringing you the festive spirit of Ganeshotsav.

Mudra Dance Academy, Hong Kong, is the first-of-its-kind Academy in Hong Kong specializing on Mohiniyattam, a classical dance form of Kerala, South India. Mohiniyattam, referred to as the Dance of the enchantress, adheres to the Lasya form of Indian dance, that showcases the graceful, gentle and subtle form of body movements and footwork. Utmost importance is given to Rasas (emotions) and Bhava (expressions) and each dance piece is unique with its way of story telling quality.
