"A Preface to Magnificence"JCCAC

Hong Kong Arts Month is around the corner! This year JCCAC is very excited to be part of it as a cultural partner of Art Basel, with our booth there to showcase artworks co-created by six of our talented resident artists. But before that rendezvous, we would like to tantalize your artistic taste buds by inviting you to visit our parallel exhibition, A Preface to Magnificence at JCCAC from 14-31 March 2024.

JCCAC proudly presents this parallel exhibition in its L1 Gallery, featuring 12 artists with longer or shorter association with JCCAC - they include Chan Kwan Lok, Halley Cheng, Cheung Wai Sze, Choi Yuk Kuen, Kwong Man Chun, Lau Ka Chun, Leung Cho Yi, Leung Lok Hei, Man Mei To, Yau Wing Fung, Yung Chung Kong, and Angela Yuen. Around 20 pieces showcasing the iconic styles of the artists will be showcased alongside 24 miniature pieces specially commissioned for this exhibition. The mediums encompass a wide variety of art practices that could be found at JCCAC, including ink painting, woodblock printing, oil painting, mineral pigment painting, ceramics, mixed media painting and installation, to name a few.

Continuing the theme of "self-existence" from JCCAC's 15th anniversary, each artist challenge themselves to create - within the constraints of limited space, materials, and time - a miniature work to accompany their larger iconic piece. The miniature work is a small but mighty manifestation of the artistic essence of their creator, guiding the audience to read and understand the inner world of the artist.
