Hu Song Wei Ricky

Hong Kong Ballet Choreographer-in-Residence

Hu Song Wei Ricky graduated from Shanghai Dance School with a major in Chinese Dance. After graduation, he was awarded a full scholarship to study Contemporary Dance at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He joined Hong Kong Ballet in 2008 and was appointed Choreographer-in-Residence in 2019. In 2012, Hu was honoured with the Hong Kong Arts Development Award for Young Artist in Dance by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.

In 2019 and 2022, he won Outstanding Choreography at the Hong Kong Dance Awards for his Hong Kong Ballet commissions The Rite of Spring and The Last Song. His choreographic works include Notturno, Carmen, Bolero, Twins, White Lies, Demons and When u see, among others. Additionally, he co-choreographed with Mai Jingwen Everlasting Flower for the College of Dance at Shanghai Theatre Academy in 2021 and Yi Yi for The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts’ Dance School in 2023.
