An active freelance performer and teacher in Hong Kong, cellist Cecilia Chan frequently works with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Hong Kong Symphonic Winds Symphony Orchestra, Inheritage Philharmonic, Hong Kong Arts Festival, Musica Viva Hong Kong and Hong Kong Bach Choir, and had been invited to perform as Guest Principal Cellist with Sun Symphony Orchestra in Hanoi, Vietnam. Cecilia has worked alongside renowned conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sir Roger Norrington, Alexander Liebreich, Thierry Fischer and Vassily Sinaisky, and has performed alongside world-class soloists such as violinists Nicola Benedetti and Lü Si-qing, and cellists Wang Jian and Pablo Ferrandez. She has performed in major concert venues around the world including Hong Kong City Hall and Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the Royal Festival Hall and Royal Albert Hall in London, Musikverein in Vienna, and Hanoi Opera House in Vietnam.
Cecilia graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Hons) and Master in Performance degree from the Royal College of Music, London (RCM), under the tutelage of Alexander Boyarsky and Amanda Truelove. She was generously supported by the RCM Elizabeth Mary Morgan Scholarship and St Marylebone Foundation Trust. She is the Gold Award Winner of the Open Strings Category of the 3rd Italy-Hong Kong International Music Competition 2020.
