Sham Chung-tat

Sham holds an MA in Sound Studies and Sonic Arts from the Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK) and a BFA in Sound Design from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA). His practice focuses on spatial audio, multichannel storytelling, and translating documentary materials into sonic form. In 2022, he co founded the creative duo “Paperback Sketch” with Miu Law, debuting with Executing the Stage.

He collaborates frequently with On & On Theatre Workshop across new writing and Theatre of Authenticity projects, serving as sound designer on multiple productions. Recent theatre credits include In a Perfect World and With Love, Medea's Boys (also served as co playwright & director).

Sham's spatial audio composition won the Golden Prize at Europe's Fifth Student 3D Audio Production Competition (Soundscape/Audio Drama). His multichannel work was broadcast at Burning Man, Black Rock City 2022 (USA), and his sound feedback installation The Plague was exhibited at the Hong Kong Pavilion of the Prague Quadrennial 2023.

Recent sound projects include the immersive sound theatre Under Ground 땅밑에 (2024 & 2026), the 12 channel documentary sound installation On My Way Home (2024), and Transverse (2025), a 42 channel Ambisonics installation with an interactive audio journey.
