Experience a night of electrifying jazz with the Vincent/Nelson/Dean trio, where classic standards meet spontaneous, high-energy improvisation.
Leading the trio is Vincent Choy, a jazz guitarist dually based in Australia and Hong Kong, currently completing his Master of Composition at Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. A former WAAPA undergraduate, Vincent has performed with renowned international artists including Frank Gambale, Varijashree Venugopal, Remy Le Boeuf, and the ANJO Youth Big Band. He is also the recipient of the 2023 WAAPA Jazz Honours Award, a testament to his artistry and dedication to the craft. This trio will also be joined by an all-star rhythm section: Nelson Fung on bass and Dean Li on drums.
From blistering up-tempo swing to intimate, emotional ballads, the trio explores the full dynamic spectrum of the jazz tradition. Expect fiery solos, deep-grooving interplay, and the kind of musical conversation that can only happen live, in the moment.
