Hong Kong-born tenor Matthew Keung received his Master degree at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, under the tutelage of renowned soprano Prof. Nancy Yuen, and bachelor of Music at The Royal Northern College of Music, under the tutelage of tenor Thomas Schulze. He has been previously employed as a full-time tenor at Gehart Hauptmann-Theater Görlitz in Germany.
Keung appeared in both Hong Kong and German stages. Recently he made his solo debut with Opera Hong Kong in 2025, performing the role Bogdanovic ( The Merry Widow ). His previous operatic roles in Bautzen and Weimar ( Germany ) include Don Ottavio ( Don Giovanni ) and 1st armoured man ( The Magic Flute ).
In the oratorio repertoire, he performed as tenor soloist in "Messiah" with Hong Kong Oratorio Society, Cecilian Singers and HK Chamber Orchestra, and previously in "Elijah" with Belcanto singers and "Zelenka Requiem" with Hong Kong Youth Choir.
He also works as a private voice teacher, vocal tutor and conductor at Opera Hong Kong Children Chorus and various local secondary schools. He has offered vocal courses to various institutions such as Hong Kong Medical Association Choir, Alliance Bible Seminary, The Chinese university of Hong Kong Christian Choir, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Christian Choir and Methodist Church Hong Kong.
