Hong Kong-based independent performing arts group, The Bootstrap Theatre HK, proudly presents its first original homegrown production titled "JOB: Fateful Fever Dream"—a new rock musical based on one of the world's most profound and thought-provoking ancient literary pieces.
Drawing from its Judeo-Christian source material, the fresh and energetic musical adaptation is a modern take on its timeless, ever-relevant themes: faith, divine justice and human suffering, the mystery of God, and wisdom—both human and divine. The story's hero, a faithful and sinless man named Job, successfully leads his community of followers away from their war-torn land and into an island far from the violence and destruction. Meanwhile, God allows His adversary Hassatan to test Job's faith by taking away all his possessions and accomplishments, his family, his health, and all that he holds dear in his life.
"JOB: Fateful Fever Dream" is written, composed, and directed by multi-awarded Filipino theatre artist William Elvin Manzano. Having written critically and commercially successful works in Manila, Philippines, this is William's first musical to be staged outside his home country. The musical's diverse and multicultural cast will be led by musical theatre veteran Felix Rivera, playing the titular character of Job.
