"Pulse, Spin, Breath" launches in 2026, bringing together three choreographers — Unlock Dancing Plaza's Resident Artist Cheung Wai Yan, emerging choreographer Ching Chu and street dance artist Sica Ho Tsz Kwan. The title draws from the core concepts each artist explores in their own creations. Building on works developed across different platforms, the trio will continue to expand and refine their artistic explorations through this collaborative project.
Cheung Wai Yin "Stay with the spin"
"Stay with the spin" draws inspiration from the artist's long-term experiences in pole dance practice. Set against the sex work-related background that has shaped its contemporary forms, this work confronts stigmatisation and cultural shifts in pole dance, from strip club innovations to athletic reinvention as it evolves into a global fitness trend. The artist reveals embedded aesthetics and politics through examining the dance form's layered legacies, reconnecting with its early pioneers through every spin with the pole.

Sica Ho Tsz Kwan "Momentary Echo"
Breath wanders consciously beneath layers of skin.
The body carries the weight and memory of all that I have lived.
When I observe this body, what do I see?
When you witness my dance, what do you perceive?
Ching Chu "Shifting Still"
"Shifting Still" takes as its point of departure the archetype of the “femme fatale” commonly seen in popular film and television, constructing a sensual female image as its starting point. Through repetition and subtle shifts in movement, the work gradually loosens this image's prescribed status as object. As repetition becomes an act of the subject, the accumulated image reaches a state of sensory saturation, in which it can be rewritten and reclaimed. The work reveals the coexistence of the female body being gazed at, interpreted, and self-presented.
