Judy Yiu

Judy Yiu is an international dance artist, gymnastic coach, RYT 500 certified yoga teacher, and art film director. She is invited as the 2024 Etiquette and Dance Director for the Hong Kong division of Miss Universe. A former Hong Kong Gymnastics Team member, she graduated with a BFA in Contemporary Dance at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and an MFA in Dance at Hollins University (USA) with the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund. Judy is a traveler who loves nature; her choreographies are inspired by her traveling experiences in the natural world. Her successful collaborations with prominent artists in many countries have enriched her work and earned her recognition. Judy's dance film Place in Motion was selected at numerous famous film festivals, and her co-directed short drama film Joss Stick and Paper received The Best Film Gold Award, The Best Director Award, and The Best Actor Award at the 2017 My Future Singapore Micro Film Competition (Open Category).

Judy's passion for art education is unwavering. She founded the "Judy Yiu Dance & Gymnastics Company" in 2017, a testament to her commitment. Her collaboration with Renaissance College to promote dance education and encourage students to learn through the arts and performances is a shining example of her dedication. Her company, JY Dance, continues to expand its reach, launching a new dance program at Malvern College in May 2025 that provides students with experiential learning through dance. Furthermore, JY Dance inaugurates its dance program at a third campus, the International Christian School, in August 2025.

With over 20 years of teaching experience, from kindergarten to graduate level, Judy's commitment to art education is evident in her accolades. She was awarded the Hong Kong Government SIR ROBERT BLACK TRUST FUND in 2021 and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund in 2022. These awards were granted to her to pursue her Doctor of Education (Department of Curriculum and Instruction) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, with a research focus on integrating dance into the Hong Kong Primary School Curriculum. Furthermore, Judy was selected to the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music & Dance Fund Awardees Association Committee since 2022, actively sustaining the promotion and development of music and dance in Hong Kong.
