Join us on July 26 from 3:00–5:30 PM for a talk exploring AI, digital ethics, and speculative futures. The talk will explore the socio-political, cognitive, and spiritual dimensions of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies through feminist, speculative, and anti-colonial frameworks.

HKW | Haus der Kulturen der Welt curator, Sara Morais dos Santos Bruss and Epona Hamdan will first discuss their pilot residency scheme and curatorial framework. Then, resident artists Ash Baccus-Clark and Manuel Arturo Abreu will present their interdisciplinary research on synthetic data, memory, and the religious dimensions of technological systems. The session is moderated by Vennes Cheng and Jianru Wu, concluding with a Q&A.

The Haus der Kulturen der Welt, in English House of World Cultures, in Berlin is Germany's national center for the presentation and discussion of international contemporary arts, with a special focus on non-European cultures and societies.

About Speakers
Sara Morais dos Santos Bruss is a cultural and media theorist, researcher, and curator for scientific, digital and media practices at HKW, Haus der Kulturen der Welt. She works on intersections of feminist and anti-colonial art and political practices, digital technologies, and narrations of (human and non-human) subjectivity.

Epona Hamdan is a cultural worker based in Berlin. She works as a producer and researcher for scientific, digital, and media practices at Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW), alongside independent curatorial and research-driven projects across artistic and interdisciplinary contexts.

Ash Baccus-Clark is a Los Angeles based Molecular & Cellular Biologist and multidisciplinary artist who uses new media and storytelling to explore themes of deep learning, cognition, memory, race, trauma, and systems of belief.

Manuel Arturo Abreu is a non-disciplinary artist, working with ritual aspects of aesthetics across moving image, language, performance, sound, research, and social study. Manuel is doing research on AI induced psychosis and the religious dimension of technological systems.
