Topics covered will include working the audience, developing style, directing and object theatre. Clowns on film will provide an additional feature to the class.
About Fraser Hooper
After a glittering career in menswear, Fraser Hooper gave it all up to follow his dream and become a clown. Thirty years on his unique brand of award winning comedy has delighted thousands of audiences in over forty countries worldwide. His shows take audience participation to a new level, his routines are hilarious, clowning classics with elements of mime and knockabout comedy that pay homage to his heroes, the great silent clowns. In New Zealand he won The Iron Chicken Award at The Bread and Circus World Buskers Festival for Best Act, Bronze at The Wuhan International Acrobatic Festival China, Best Act at The Landshut Festival Germany and in France he won Silver at Saint-Paul-Les- Dax Circus Festival and People’s Choice at The Festival International du Cirque du Val d'Oise. In the UK he regularly performed his show at the National Theatre London, the Glastonbury Festival and was an original cast member of the highly acclaimed West End variety show Slightly Fat Features.
Fraser is a popular clown tutor at Circus Schools and Theatre Festivals across the globe and throughout the 90's was the regular clown tutor at The National Centre for Circus Arts London the UK’s premier circus school.
As a theatre maker he has directed shows for clowns, street performers, actors and puppeteers across Europe, Australia, and Canada. At present there are no plans to go back to menswear.
