Overview

Xi Xi ( 1937–2022 ) was an extremely important figure in Sinophone literature, with particular significance for Hong Kong. Xi Xi never confined herself to boundaries, whether in writing, in making plush and cloth dolls, in arranging miniature houses, or in taking delight in a single toy or piece of furniture. Through her eyes, we see multiple possibilities within things, ever shifting, evolving, and full of vitality.

Stepping into Xi Xi's Room Boxes is like visiting a neighbour's home, or reading a heartfelt journal. This meticulously reconstructed space recreates Xi Xi's former living room with her original furniture, alongside a selection of her most beloved and well-known pursuits: handmade teddy bears, which brings to life the atmosphere of her writing and daily life. Through her distinctive perspective on space, one can discover the layers of playfulness and emotion embedded within objects.

Visit to "Xi Xi's Room Boxes: Beginning with Teddy Bears" is free-of-charge. Online registration will be required on a first-come, first-served basis.

Each session accommodates a maximum of eight visitors. The viewing duration is one hour. Visitors may reserve an audio guide device concurrently with their booking. Audio guides run approximately 30 minutes in total, offering deeper insights into Xi Xi's living space and the stories behind the exhibits. Audio guides are available in Cantonese, Putonghua and English.
