Sanders Lau leads an active musical life both as a conductor and a singer. He is currently Resident Conductor of Die Konzertisten (DK). Under his preparation, DK has performed with great critical acclaim under internationally distinguished conductors, including Stephen Layton (Mozart’s Requiem), John Butt (Bach’s St John Passion), Jonathan Cohen (Handel’s Messiah, Israel in Egypt), and Chen Yun-Hung. He has conducted DK in performances ranging from standard repertoire, such as Haydn’s Nelson Mass, and Duruflé’s Requiem, to newly commissioned works by local composers.

With a specialised interest in the historically informed performance of music of the 17th-18th centuries, Sanders works regularly with Cammer Musicus, Hong Kong’s first baroque orchestra. They have given concerts of Bach’s cantatas on period instruments in DK’s Bach Pilgrimage Series. Such performances aim to adhere to the style, aesthetic principles, and musical technique of the era in which the music was originally conceived.
