Candace Chong

A Hong Kong-based playwright who graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with an Honours Bachelor of Social Sciences in Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Playwriting from the Drama School of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She also holds a Master's degree in Playwriting from Royal Holloway, University of London. In addition to writing for the stage, Chong is involved in translating, adapting, and creating text content for musicals and operas.

She has received the Best Script Award at the Hong Kong Drama Awards six times for her works, including Alive in The Mortuary, Shall We Go to Mars, The French Kiss, Murder in San José, The Professor, and May 35th. In 2003, she was awarded the Outstanding Young Playwright Award by the Hong Kong Federation of Drama Society. In 2004, she was granted the Lee Hysan Scholarship by the Asian Cultural Council to study in the United States. In 2010, she was named the Best Artist of the Year (Drama) by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. In 2012, she was selected by the South China Morning Post as one of the 25 most influential women in Hong Kong.
