Aliena Wong – pianist, director of the Global Symphony Orchestra
Aliena Wong, a citizen of the United Kingdom and an accomplished concert pianist, was born in Hong Kong. She started her piano lessons at the age of four. In 1983 she studied with Professor Edna Blackwell in Bath, England. Aliena was a winner of the piano competition at the Somerset Music Festival in England. In 2003, Aliena continued her piano studies at the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory of Music ( N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov ) in Russia. Her teacher was Professor Marina Smirova.
Since 2013 she has been the resident pianist of the Global Symphony Orchestra and its director. She appeared as a solo pianist at the "Unesco Peacemaker's Celebration" in 2003. She has performed numerous piano repertoires with the Global Symphony Orchestra, such as the "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini" by S. Rachmaninoff, the "Choral Fantasy" by L . van Beethoven, the Piano Concerto No. 1 by Chopin, the Piano Concertos No. 3 and No. 5 by L. van Beethoven, and the Piano Concerto No. 20 by W.A. Mozart. In Europe she performed with the Northern Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and with the Croatian Chamber Orchestra as a solo pianist.
In 2019, Aliena Wong performed the piano work "Seasonal Gemstone Suite” by Gustav Mak at the "12th Festival". China Arts Festival" premiered in Shanghai.
