Cheung Nga Yin

Cheung Nga Yin, Hebe is now 12 years old and studying at French International School. She started learning viola at the age of 5 and violin at 8 under the tutelage of Ms. Jasmine PANG. Recently, she has achieved a Distinction from the ABRSM Grade 8 Violin examination with a high score of 142 and Grade 8 Viola and is now preparing for the Trinity LTCL diploma exam.

Apart from her own practice, she is also enthusiastic in ensembles. In May, being a member of the school student quartet, Hebe was invited to perform for the concert “Beautiful Harmony” as part of the French May’s programme with the internationally acclaimed pianist Niu Niu and flutist Cocomi at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Amphitheatre. Besides, she has been a member of Hong Kong Children’s Symphony Orchestra since 2019 and she is currently the viola principal of Mozart Orchestra. She toured with the HKCSO as viola vice- principal to Italy this summer and performed in Rome, Florence and Milan. She is also the viola vice-principal of the International Youth Chamber Orchestra and the violist of the Elite Junior String Quartet. Hebe soloed with the International Youth Chamber Orchestra in July 2022, Feb 2023 and Oct 2024. She also took part in “The Quartet of Oz” in January last year and performed in solo, duet and quartet at the S’way Recital Hall. She was also invited by the Mememto Moments Harp Studio to perform with the quartet and harpists at the Sheung Wan Civic Centre in last September.

Hebe actively participates in different competitions. She has won various prizes and awards including the 3rd place from Intermediate Viola Group of the 77th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, 1st place of Viola Age Group, 1st place of Violin Duet Junior Class and 1st place of Vocal Grading Class 3 in 10th HKYPAF 2022. She has also participated in the chamber competitions and had been awarded 3rd place from the HKGNA International Competition 2023 (age group under 18) and the 1st place from the AIMA Fukuoka Music Competition 2024 preliminary round. Hebe also enjoys voluntary work such as singing and playing music for the elderly. She also joined festive performances in public including Disneyland Hong Kong and the Hyatt hotel.
