The overall period style is Hong Kong in the 90’s, situated in the social atmosphere before the hand-over in 1997 in which conflicting social values and beliefs existed. Now times have changed, some people tend to simply go with the flow, while some still embrace the sentiments and freedom in the good old days, both acts are in fact a kind of stubbornness. The main stage is set on the rooftop of an old building surrounded by a fast developing city. Next to the house are various kinds of potted plants and crops, setting off the conflicting psychological state of the main character of which the old sentiments have never really been relinquished, but at the same time the self wishes to be exiled. The whole space attempts to reveal a very strong attitude that the protagonist has for life, inspired by real people who actually make a living out of growing crops within the city, abandoning the political views of capitalism. There are also evergreen trees in the set, symbolising an uncompromising stubbornness of the character. The crevice in the sky is like the only space for breathing in people’s heart. In the end, the “Skylight” comes through the crevice, resonating with the “conflict” of people’s reverting to the old days of colonial life and longing for new achievement and identity.
