魏思偉

Hong Kong native NGAI Sze Wai Mattias is a classically trained musician, who received various diplomas and degrees for piano, harpsichord, organ, conducting (church music) respectively from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart (Germany), University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (Austria). During his studies abroad, he received piano teaching experience from state music school and served as Assistant of an organ professor in Stuttgart, organ and harpsichord technician at different universities in Graz, as keyboardist in an early music masterclass in Pöllau (Austria), as well as the organist at various churches in Germany and Austria, including St. Francis Church, Church Mariahilfer and the Cathedral in Graz. He also receives his conducting and cantor practicum in the Cathedral in Graz.

Ngai has experience in piano accompaniment, historical keyboards performing and conducting with singers, orchestras, and ensembles, including the operas by Purcell and Mozart, as well as different Masses and liturgic pieces by Bach, Bruckner, Haydn, Mozart, and Schubert. In 2013 he was awarded 2nd Prize performing the harpsichord at the Martha-Debelli Competition in Graz and received a gold award from the International Music Competition Svirél 2016 (Slovenia).

Since his return to Hong Kong, Ngai has been a music teacher in an international school, He has been mentoring students and performing on various public occasions. He has been interviewed and performed in RTHK and TVB as conductor, pianist, harpsichordist and organist. He is now the church keyboardist of Alliance Church, organist of the Church of All Nations, conductor of choir and orchestra in different schools, as well as piano tutor. He is invited by Musica Viva to be the conductor on harpsichord in Mozart's opera "La Fina Semplice", keyboardist in Mozart's opera "The Marriage of Figaro", Purcell's opera "The Fairy Queen" by Cantabile, "A Vivaldi Celebration" in HKUST. He is also the guest keyboardist of Macao Orchestra in 2023 to perform in Mozart's "Requiem" etc...
