Simon is a versatile timpanist and percussionist from London who has worked with major symphony, chamber, opera and ballet orchestras, recorded music for film and television and performed in many diverse styles, including Brazilian jazz, samba, samba de coco, bossa nova, Latin jazz, Bollywood and Canto-pop. On period instruments his work has included English Baroque Orchestra, Kent Opera and London Brass. A long-term resident of Hong Kong, Simon was formerly Principal Timpanist of Hong Kong Sinfonietta and in recent years has also worked with ensembles such as City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, the Macau Orchestra, Jazz Friends Orchestra, FTLO Big Band, Sambrasia, Salvaje and Banda Orbita. Simon is also Director of Music and Mestre of the Bateria at Nine Dragons School of Samba, teaching and performing Rio-style carnival samba in Hong Kong.

Simon received his early musical training at the Purcell School of Music and the Royal Academy of Music Junior Department before going on to undergraduate studies at the Royal College of Music.
