Tibetan Folk Dance Drama - Red Poppies
A tribal chief makes his riches and power from growing poppies and selling opium. He needs a successor and has to choose between his two sons: the elder is hungry for power; the younger just wants a simple life – everyone even calls him “bird brain”. Tempted by power and desire, a family feud fueled by jealousy and hatred rip through the plateau, taking the old order down in flames.
Adapted from the eponymous novel, which won China’s most prestigious book prize established by writer Mao Dun, the Tibetan dance drama "Red Poppies" draws from folk dance traditions of the region where the book is set. Featuring Tibetan music and singing as well as colourful tribal costumes, "Red Poppies" is a testament to the changes of time, the destruction of old world orders and the coming of a new age. It is also a meditation on karma, on good and evil through the Tibetan culture and traditions.

String Music Dance Theatre - Dance of Strings【Early Bird Discount】
Innovatively arranged by our Artistic Director Yang Yuntao and internationally renowned violinist Yao Jue, “Dance of Strings” is a unique fusion of dance and string music. This collaborative performance by the Hong Kong Dance Company and Hong Kong String Orchestra led by Yao Jue gives new life to familiar Chinese folk songs by breaking through the original lyrics and imagery. It sheds light on the hybrid cultural identities of Hong Kong, a city of “convergence” and “transformation”
Grand Dance Drama - L'Amour Immortel
This love story originates from one of the “Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio” written by Pu Songling. It was adapted into the Hong Kong blockbuster movie “A Chinese Ghost Story” in the 1980s, and has taken on yet another incarnation as the grand dance drama “L'Amour Immortel”.
Nie Xiaoqian, an alluring ghost, is enslaved by a sinister demon and forced to prey on humans. When she meets and falls head-overheels in love with the honest and good-natured Ning Caichen, she becomes determined to save him from evil forces, even at the cost of her own afterlife. In “L'Amour Immortel”, the timeless classic is flled with new spirit by the performers' physical expression. It captures the essence of the most beautiful human values in a poignant ghost story that will touch many hearts in this broken world.

Grand Dance Drama - The Moon Opera
Famous for her role as Chang’e the moon goddess, Xiao Yanqiu is a diva in Peking Opera. Yet, is her success on stage with a guarantee of a happy-ever-after life? Or is it just a dream drowned out by stark reality? Amid whirling moon shadows and dancing long sleeves, she melts every heart with her glance and, totally bewitch us with her gentle sigh.
“The Moon Opera” is adapted from the eponymous novel by Bi Feiyu, a 2011 winner of the Mao Dun Literature Prize, and features a strong international cast and crew and a groundbreaking minimalist stage design. Directed and choreographed by national frst-class dance artist Wang Yabin, the drama captures the essences of Asian and Western cultures in a fusion of classical Chinese dance, contemporary dance and Peking opera. In this Hong Kong premiere, the Hong Kong Dance Company and Yabin Dance Studio are going to present a truly inspiring viewing experience.
