Overview

A continuation of the Tai Kwun concert last year, HKYC gladly partners with Hong Kong Voices to present another 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 concert showcasing choral pieces by Hong Kong composers inspired by Chinese literary works. While poets wrote about the spoils of war and personal struggles, composers correspond with musical language, together weaving songs of existence and death, joy and anguish.

𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐤: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝟏𝟗𝟏𝟏 by Prof. Chan Hing-yan scores poet Tsai Yim-pui’s remarkable eulogy to revolutionaries, 𝐐𝐮𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 inquires about life through Su Shi’s poetry. Chen Ning-chi’s 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐭𝐬 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐎𝐧 and Doming Lam’s 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐫 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 fashion Du Fu’s compelling war poem into musical epics. Emerging composer Adrian Wong’s 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲 tells a pensive, funereal story by young poet, Brian Kot. The concert will also feature the World Premiere of a number of newly written works.

This is the fourth concert of 𝐀 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐚 - 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 series.
