Join us for the grand finale of the MUSE String Quartet Festival, featuring the HK Phil string principals alongside the renowned Dutch pianist Hannes Minnaar.
The spotlight shines on the HK Phil String Quartet in the first half. It begins with a newly commissioned piece, A Fairytale Retold, by HKU composer Charles Lee Gai-ho. The four principals will then embark on a performance of Shostakovich's Eighth Quartet, a profound work composed in just three days during a time of immense turmoil. Its emotional depth and complexity offer a poignant reflection on the human experience.
The concert's second half features Beethoven's Fourth Piano Concerto, arranged for piano and string quintet. Through this dazzling work, the musicians invite the audience into a dialogue of lyrical beauty and dramatic flair.
