Christopher Chan

Christopher CHAN is a 9th generation descendant of the Yim Tin Tsai Chan clan. Born in West Yorkshire and raised in Cumbria, his family left Yim Tin Tsai in the 1960s to start a restaurant business. Inspired by his late father's childhood stories of his homeland, Christopher became deeply involved in village revitalization and heritage conservation. He participates in conservation programs, administration, and serves on the rural committee for village affairs.

Christopher earned a DPhil in Physics from Oxford University and an MSci from the Royal College ofScience. He is a scientist, educator, and passionate photographer. In 2017, he began working at HKUST,near his ancestral home of Sai Kung, where he met Dr. Braud. Together, they use digital technology to document changes on the island and explore the use of augmented reality in deep tourism and conservation.
