Starting from the dual nature of clay, "Why 2 Clay?" explores fundamental questions about the material as artists create with it and ask: Why clay? Why choose ceramics?

This exhibition features works by 19 artists from the Ceramic Studio of the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University. On one hand, it examines the physical properties of clay as a material—softness, plasticity, resilience, and durability. On the other hand, it investigates the possibilities that ceramics can embody in different forms. Drawing inspiration from the shaping, techniques, and historical backgrounds of ceramics, as well as their own concepts, the artists attempt to explore the potential of clay from their personal perspectives.
