This immersive concert invites audiences to experience sound as a physical, spatial, and deeply felt encounter. Performed by leading Australian percussionists Michael Askill and Rebecca Lloyd-Jones — co-founder and most recent Artistic Director of the internationally renowned Synergy Percussion, respectively — the program places Corrina Bonshek's Song to the Earth III at its center, presented in a new version for percussion ensemble. Drawing on patterns and cycles from the natural world, waves of resonance unfold — from gong orchestra and metallic percussion to recorded sounds of cicadas and migrating humpback whales. Audiences are invited to lie down as sound washes over them in a deeply embodied state of listening.
The program also features Bonshek's contemplative Swimming Through a Universe of Sound, Kate Moore's hypnotic Spel, Philip Glass's Mad Rush and a chorale by J.S. Bach — tracing connections across time and revealing the enduring power of repetition, resonance, and breath.
Sound bath inspired by Song to the Earth — A companion wellness workshop with Gong and Singing Bowls is available, highlighting how communities can connect through bodywork, listening, and touch.
