The Bamboo quintet was founded in 2025 by passionate Hong Kong based musicians Sandy Zhiyu Xu (Oboe), Heesoo Woo (Clarinet), Scarlet Gouk (Saxophone), Tommy Liu (Bassoon) and Chunyip Ho (Bass Clarinet).
Comprised of all "Reed instruments", the vision of this group is to bring a fresh new sound through versatile musical excellence. The Bamboo quintet aims to create captivating programs that mixes traditional classical music with original arrangements of contemporary pop culture music, such as gaming tunes, anime/movie soundtracks, etc.
We believe that in this way, the Bamboo quintet may connect to all the generations of it's audience, balancing an Identity of fun and games with focused precision.
