Nothing Classical

The five members of Reedsonance met when they were all studying music at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. After pursuing their musical paths in different parts of the world, they converged once again in their hometown and founded Reedsonance in May 2017.

As the first reed quintet (oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone and bassoon) in Hong Kong, Reedsonance strives to push reed instruments to their limits, discovering the compelling reed timbre in a wide range of music, from Renaissance to modern and from classical to jazz.

Reedsonance plays transcriptions of piano solo, chamber and orchestral works, presenting new, dynamic and colourful interpretations of the originals.
