Chicago is a satirical musical set in the Roaring Twenties, following aspiring chorus girl Roxie Hart and fading vaudevillian Velma Kelly, both accused of murder and imprisoned in Cook County Jail, as they compete for fame, fortune, and acquittal using sensational headlines and the slick lawyer Billy Flynn to turn their crimes into showbiz spectacles, ultimately becoming unlikely partners in a corrupt system that glorifies celebrity and "all that jazz".
