The 49th Orchestral Season Opening Concert “Silken Notes of the Pipa”

Inspired by the Silk Road, this concert focuses on the pipa, the foremost plucked string instrument where similar forms have been found across different regions that eloquently recount the histories and stories of their lands.Conducted by the orchestra's Artistic Director Yan Huichang, the concert will feature five-string pipa player Fang Jinlong, Japanese Satsuma biwa player Kubota Akiko, Turkish oud player Yannis Gotis, and four-string pipa player Zhang Ying, showcasing a magnificent soundscape of East-West fusion and cross-cultural dialogue.
